The Media Equation: United, Newspapers May Stand
David Carr has an intriguing column in today's Times about the future of newspapers. He suggests that the nation's newspapers band together and decide to to stop offering free content, block Google and other aggregators from using their articles, stop selling remnant ad space, and throw out the Newspaper Preservation Act. What do you think? Would you pay to read the New York Times online? What would happen to blogs like this that don't create anything original and rely on other people's hard work?
