David Zurawik, writing for a Baltimore Sun Blog sbout the interview, concluded with the following sentiment:

We won't move toward a more civil society until we acknowldge that we are all part of the problem. And it is point-the-finger-politician-too-simplistic--scapegoat-talk to blame it all on 24-hour cable TV news channels.

It's not clear Obama blamed it all on them rather than that he was just making a relevant point.

Zurawik also chided Steve Kroft for being too soft on Obama regarding civility, because Obama months ago sloppily called the actions of the arresting police officer in the Gates matter "stupid," which was, to Zurawik, very uncivil.

I guess Zurawik wanted Kroft to have a "gotcha" moment with Obama, but it also raises the question of how then when an action is stupid, and it is not politically foolish to point it out, when can in fact point this out without being a contributor to the rampant political uncivility problem.
