The combination of Will Ferrell and Bear Grylls is everything I could have hoped for.

Sarah Palin Blows Colbert's Big Secret
Sarah Palin, or whoever has been twittering for her, clearly does not watch the Colbert Report and was unaware that the location of his Persian Gulf trip has been under wraps. Either that, or she's deliberately trying to sabotage him.

New Music on the Blogs
On May 3rd, which just happened to be my birthday, there were 2 epic concerts in NYC. It was difficult to choose between going to see Pete Seeger's 90th birthday (he's only 65 years older than me!) or going to the Dark Was the Night concert at Radio City Music Hall. I went with Pete, but now we can all listen to both shows in their entirety thanks to Mystic Chords of Memory:

The other exciting thing I came across this week was this new video from Dan Auerbach, who just continues to impress me with everything he puts out:
Finally, Pop Tarts Suck Toasted has this great guide to summer concerts in NYC. I'll be trying to get to as many of these as possible.

Is Karl Rove the Only Republican Supporting Sotomayor?
How has Karl Rove become one of the only rational voices in the Republican Party regarding Sotomayor's nomination?
So I think Republicans need to take her on in the appropriate fashion, which is about her judicial philosophy, her record on the court, her writings and her statements. Particularly her statements. But they — and they need to do so with respect.

Andy Borowitz's 'My Quiet Time'
I thought that this week's New Yorker Shouts & Murmurs essay was a good companion piece to last week's New York Magazine article about distraction. Andy Borowitz really captures the new meaning of "quiet time."

"Whoever said that the early bird gets the worm could have been talking about me, only I’m a person, not a bird, and I’m not interested in getting worms, more like getting things done. But I do get up early. In fact, the secret to my success could be boiled down to three little words: my quiet time. It begins at 1 A.M., when I get out of bed, check my e-mail, brush my teeth, scan some documents, and floss."
