A few weeks ago, Mitt Romney appeared on Meet the Press and told David Gregory he would likely keep his favorite parts of President Obama's Affordable Care Act if he became president. Yesterday, when NBC News asked him about the apparent empathy gap in the race, Romney voluntarily pointed to his Massachusetts health care law as proof of how much he cares about people. There must be something about that NBC audience that just makes Romney feel like helping those people he usually thinks of as dependent victims.
