As more and more people work from home these days, the home office has become one of the most important spaces in your house or apartment. As many who work from home know, the makeup of your home office can dramatically affect your work output.

Whether you run your own business, freelance from home, or simply work away from the office a couple times each week, a comfortable and practical working office is essential to getting things done.

There are many different ways to ensure that your home office is in perfect condition to help maximize your work output. Sleek, practical furniture and a proper computer can really mean the difference between a desk and a true home office.

Simply the size of the room itself can also make or break your home office. Another way to help make the most of your home-based work space is with various home appliances. With the wide variety of home appliances available – and in various shapes and sizes – home appliances can help keep you comfortable and help you stay more efficient, all while contributing to a success home working environment.

There’s a reason that coffee makers can be found in just about every office across the country – they’re useful and often quite necessary. Very few workers can get through the morning without their coffee, so it makes sense to include one in your home office.

While you might have one in your kitchen already, adding a coffee maker to your office can still be helpful. If you’re working intensely on your latest project or just trying to meet the day’s deadline, you’ll most likely not want to get up in the middle of it to grab a cup of much-needed coffee.

5. Portable Ice Maker

Just as you’d rather not get up mid-thought for a cup of coffee, the same can be said for a cold drink. Enter the portable ice machine. Small enough to fit on or even under your desk, portable ice makers can give you access to all the cold ice you’d ever need in your home office. Additionally, these portable ice makers come in a wide variety of colors, ensuring that they’ll fit within the design scheme you’ve chosen for your office area.

4. Small Refrigerator

What’s better than having cold ice available at a moment’s notice? How about having chilled beverages and snacks available at any time without having to leave your home office. Typically used by college students in their dorm rooms, mini fridges can fit just enough food and/or drinks to keep you both happy and comfortable, as well as save you multiple trips to the kitchen.

3. Stereo System

People typically fall into one of two camps when it comes to music in the workplace — either they love it or hate it. If you enjoy music while working, then a stereo system of some sort is an essential add to your home office. Whether you prefer the AM radio or the music on your iPod, since you work from a home office, you may as well enjoy it on a full stereo. A TV is another option, but beware that it can be distracting and potentially detrimental to your workflow. However, if you need to monitor the market or the news, a TV is your best option.

2. Heater

Being comfortable is essential when you work from home. If your home office isn’t a cozy place to work, then chances are you’ll dislike working there – which can be a major problem.

A space heater is a great alternative for your home office, particularly since they are small enough to fit easily under your desk, but can still warm up the room quickly. There are also a wide variety of options available for space heaters, so there’s sure to be something to fit your home office needs.

1. Portable Air Conditioner

Just as you don’t want to be cold in your home office, you won’t want to be hot either. Once again, an uncomfortable home office can dramatically affect your work. Unfortunately, it can be tough to properly cool your home office.  Portable air conditioners are a great climate control tool, as they can easily spot cool a room like a home office without requiring any permanent installation. In addition, these portable AC units are fully mobile, allowing you to move the unit from room to room with ease.
